The following tips are to help your holiday go with a swing.

Reconfirm your airline reservation 24 hours prior to departure because Indonesian carriers frequently overbook. Your hotel receptionist will do this for you.

Always bring some cash if you go around, in case you need to buy something, because not all places in Bali accept credit card.

It is possible to draw money from the many ATM's (Automatic Telling Machines) that are in the busy parts of Bali and display the Maestro and Cirrus signs. But for those that bring travelers checks, it is better for you to change your them at your hotel's money changer or a bank rather than "on the street" as money changers there will perform tricks with your money better than a conjurer. You won't know how it's done but when you check your money back at the hotel, you may be short of a notes..

It is better for you to catch a taxi for your family when you want to go somewhere because they will deliver you everywhere in Bali, but, of course, they are more expensive than public transport but in Bali not all places can be passed by public transport. If you want to travel around, it is better for you to ask a tour operator. They can give you a better transportation complete with a guide and driver at a reasonable price.

If you want to spend your time on the beach do not forget to bring sun block and a hat. It is recommended to bring swimsuits and towel, in case you want to swim.

Beware, please..

  • Don't display large sums of money to avoid pickpocket.
  • Nude bathing is prohibited and impolite on the beach.
  • Use sarong and appropriate cloth when you enter a temple.
  • Most of Balinese food is spicy.
  • Drink only bottled or boiled water - tap water may give you tummy trouble.
  • The ice in drinks is safe as it is government controlled.
