SOBEK's professional guides are trained in all aspects of customer safety, including lifesaving, river search and rescue and first aid. In the 1993 World Championships and SOBEK guides formed the nucleus of the Indonesian national whitewater rafting team.

They are trained to the Swift Water Rescue Program, American Affiliation and Australian Whitewater Safety standards. All training programs including customer service, teamwork and leadership skills, and first aid, with regular revision of kayaking and river skills.
