Most resorts and hotels on the island in the
past years, in an effort to draw holidaying adults, have foccused
on up grading their spa and convention center facilities. Generally
speaking, packages are often aimed at promoting Bali as a honeymoon
destination or a place for couples to rekindle romance. But what
about families? It comes as refreshing change to see somewhere like
the Bali Dynasty Resort place so much emphasis on their family suites
and especially children's facilities.
The
Dynasty, as it is more commonly known, is located in central Tuban
and only minutes away from the international airport, thus preventing
long trips in a cramped shuttle bus. It is one of the islands premier
locations for vacationing families and has possibly the best range
of activities for lively kids. While parents take some time out
for a well-deserved break or some shopping alone, they can rest
assure that they children will be well looked after by the caring
and very capable staff at the Dynasty's Kupu-Kupu Kiddies Club.
Within the confines of the Dynasty's grounds and only a short walk
away from the beach, the Kiddies Club is a safe enclosed environment
with outdoor playground equipment, a fully functional upstairs club
house, toilets, change rooms, swimming pools with water slide and
much smaller wadding pool for toddlers. The club open daily for
children aged between the ages of 4 - 12 years, and has scheduled
activities from early morning until closing at 6.00 PM. Parents
can arrange for their younger toddlers to be cared for by one of
Dynasty's fully trained babysitters, who will be solely responsible
for that child within the Kupu-Kupu compound.
The
placement of children within the Kupu-Kupu Kiddies Club requires
enrolment by either a parent or guardian. A registration form stating
child details is to be completed at drop off time. If parents are
going to be absent for an extended period of time, lunch came be
pr-ordered from the Dynasty's lunch menu, designed especially for
youngsters.
The club provides different daily activities
that change hourly to prevent boredom. Although the clubroom has
a large screen TV, complete with a play station, the staff tries
to encourage more stimulating types of activities such as building
block creations, paper airplane competitions, basic Indonesian lessons,
and art and crafts. However, it is the outdoor activities that have
proved to be a favorite, especially in this tropical climate. The
children race to put on their swimming costume when it is announced
that the next activity will be water polo or pool games. Occasionally
the children are taken on supervised tours out of the Dynasty's
grounds to the beach for shell and crab collecting. With skin safety
such and issue, all children are lathered in sun block before they
are allowed to participate in any of the outdoors or water activities.
The wadding pool is partially covered from the sun by protective
netting in an effort to help prevent burning of young tender skin.
Reclining
sun loungers and umbrella shading have been strategically placed
around the children's pool area for parents wanting to keep an eye
on their youngsters. Adults are free to use the children's pool,
although they are refrained from using the water chute. A seated
lifeguard is on duty daily at the pool to enforce safety and to
ensure that pool games don't become too boisterous.
When the little people have exhausted themselves,
the staff calls for a time-out sessions. Everyone retreats to the
air- conditioned clubhouse for a rest and some quiet activities
on the oversized floor cushions. As the parents come in staggered
groups at collection time, the children are reluctant to leave.
Promises are made to come back the next day eager not to miss out
on the Kupu-Kupu (butterfly) drawing competition.
Staff at the Kupu-Kupu Kiddies Club ere all
English speaking and have basic first aid skills. School holidays
are an especially busy time at the Kiddies Club, when the hotel
occupancy is high with guests taking advantage of family rooms and
connecting suites.
Parents only have look at the joy expressed
on the little faces to see that the Kupu-Kupu Kiddies Club is a
winner amongst these small travelers. With so much fun emphasis
on fun, it is little wonder that many visitors are repeaters. The
Dynasty has to be applauded for realising that families are guests
too.
